Social engineering refers to techniques used to manipulate individuals into divulging confidential or personal information that can be used for fraudulent purposes. It often relies on psychological tricks rather than technical hacking methods.
Comman tactics include as follows :-
Phishing: Sending emails or messages that appear to be from a trustworthy source to trick individuals into providing sensitive information.
Pretexting: Creating a fabricated scenario to obtain information, often by posing as someone in a position of authority.
Baiting: Offering something enticing, like free software or media, to lure individuals into compromising their security.
Tailgating: Gaining unauthorized access to a restricted area by following someone who has legitimate access.
Quizzes and Surveys: Using seemingly harmless quizzes to collect personal information that can be exploited.
